Empik is a prominent Polish retail chain known for its wide selection of hobby related products. Empik.com is an e-commerce platform offering over 5 million products in its own sale and marketplace. It’s also provides additional services like gift cards and loyalty programs.

PROBLEM
Business requirements and the service provider of Empik gift cards have changed. Due to the need to rebuild whole backend system, the organization decided to update the appearance of the service and add new functionalities for users to create online wallet to pay for online orders.
DISCOVERY PHASE
Product was created for clients purchased gift cards in a stationary stores or got it as a gift, and wanted to use it online multiple times. The appearance of this tool was already outdated and the elements ceased to form a coherent design. Whole platform had multiple styles for UI elements, assets and code structure. The mobile version was poor.
DESIGN PROCESS
1. Interviews with internal stakeholders – PO, PM, legal and loss prevention teams, marketing.
2. Check of available functionalities and identify areas of improvement.
3. Analysis and observation of user behavior – what kind of gift cards were preferred by users and what type of problems and errors they encountered while using the service.
4. Design based on information architecture and Design System. Alignment of UX solutions with business objectives.
5. User testing and design fixes.
SOLUTION
I believe good user experience redesign is provided only by following an intuitive solutions. This new product reflects most up to date design standards. Fresh and clean interface can definitely attracts users and provide them better experience. This virtual wallet service will be constantly developed with new functionalities.
